Handcuff Engraving

Crown Trophy at 811 N Main Ave is an LE friendly business where I recently had my DPSST engraved on my handcuffs. The turnaround was quick and they did a great job. Cost is $6 per cuff. Drop me a line if you have any questions.

City Hall Flags

In light of our latest recent protest on Wednesday (8/26) it is important that we all stay informed during these trying times. We owe this to ourselves and our families. Information can either be slow to trickling down to ground level officers or it just never reaches us for a variety of reasons.

Prior to Wednesday’s protest, there was a request by our chief of police to the mayor, Karylinn Echols, to remove all of the flags in front of city hall to include the politically charged BLM flag. Like most of our elected officials these days, Mayor Echols failed to make a decision, so she called for a special city council meeting.

The city council ultimately voted 4-3 to remove at least the BLM flag if not all the flags (I have not watched the session). This city council vote was overridden by interim City Manager Eric Schmidt who felt the flag needed to stay put.

The city manger overriding the city council’s vote caught my attention. Especially since his latest e-mail was all about promoting the Equity Action Committee and all the great work they did before it was forced to pause, and was clear to point out they did nothing wrong.

So if and when one of us is injured during these events remember, Eric Schmidt, who will not be on the front lines with you or I, overrode a decision which could have deescalated things. This could be important in the event you, your family, and/or the GPOA would like to explore legal options against Eric Schmidt and the COG after said injury.

We are all on this front line together. I strongly encourage you to seek information and I strongly encourage you to support the executive board during these unprecedented times.

Contract Update?

I was wondering if there was any kind of update to the GPOA contract negotiations? I haven’t heard anything in awhile and was curious where we stand and if any information can be shared? Thanks!
